Plot Summary

The film begins with Mohanasundarams funeral, where his friend Balu (S.S. Rajendran) narrates his tragic life story. Mohanasundaram was a generous and kind-hearted man who fell in love with Kaandha (M.N. Rajam), a simple and virtuous woman. However, he was lured by a prostitute named Chandra (Ranjani), who pretended to be a modern and educated woman. Mohanasundaram married Chandra and abandoned Kaandha, who was pregnant with his child.

Mohanasundaram soon realized that Chandra was only after his money and had affairs with other men. He also became addicted to alcohol and gambling, and wasted his fortune. He was betrayed by his friends and relatives, who took advantage of his weakness. He was humiliated and insulted by everyone he despised, including his servant Mama (J.P. Chandrababu), who became rich by stealing from him.

Mohanasundaram contracted leprosy and was thrown out of his house by Chandra. He wandered on the streets, begging for food and shelter. He met Kaandha again, who had become a widow after her husband died in an accident. She took pity on him and nursed him back to health. She also revealed that she had given birth to his son, who was now a lawyer.

Mohanasundaram felt ashamed of his past deeds and begged for forgiveness from Kaandha and his son. He also reconciled with Balu, who had remained loyal to him throughout his ordeal. He died peacefully in Kaandhas arms, shedding tears of blood.
